Facebook Purge

How many times have you been scrolling through your fb feed and had this roller coaster of emotions. If you are anything like I was you wake up and you start scrolling. So the first thing you do is you laugh cuz someone posted something really funny. Then you get sad because maybe your friends grandma died. Then you get angry because of some bad news you just read or even worse you get angry because someone posted some stupid quote and you think it's about you! Do you realize how many emotions you have just experienced in the first fifteen minutes of your day? Yo! you are on the verge of being a Schizophrenic.

Here are some common lies we tell ourselves :

  • I just go on there to post then leave.
  • I am just on there for my business.
  • It's the only way I can keep track of my family.
Real reasons we are on fb:
  • Procrastination
  • loneliness
  • Need to be a people pleaser
  • You are just a creeper
  • Need to have others approval
  • Fear of missing out (aka FOMO)
3 steps I have taken to have a healthy relationship with fb:

  • I deleted the app from my phone (yes I have to actually log onto it from my laptop or manually do it on your phone which is annoying and takes too much time)
  • If I do log on I try to not to make it the first thing I do when I wake up or the last thing I do before I go to bed. That way if something annoys me, I don't take it out on people during the day or go to sleep mad.
  • Yes I have businesses but there is an app just for this purpose so use it people it's called pages manager or if you can afford it hire someone to manage your pages.  (you can also have messenger without actually having the fb app on your phone)
So check yourself according to this article  you should spend about 30 minutes a day on social media and if you go into your settings you can actually track how long you spend on fb. Don't get me wrong I love social media, I love facebook but it is just not healthy to spend so much time on there. I am not going to write a whole blog on why...there are plenty already out there. I just know I had some mixed emotions and didn't realize how much social media actually contributed to my mental health. So as weird as it is going to be I am going to share this on Facebook and hopefully maybe help someone else who has also been experiencing the same. I mean clearly I had a problem, I have this blog I create a gazillion years ago and well...I never used it cuz I was too busy updating my facebook status.
